Abstract

Today, the press has great responsibilities towards its societies. These responsibilities include contributing to the growth and development process of society, addressing the manifestations of this development, trying to reach the truth and passing it on to the public. By exercising the role of control over the institutions in general and public in particular, fight against corruption and unveil, the detection of violations and immoral and illegal discrepancies, with the prosecution and disclosure of organized crimes, cases of abuse power and influence, or anything that would preserve the rights of society.

Perhaps he who reads the first paragraph will inevitably question the mechanisms available to the press as the fourth authority responsible for exposing the facts or denouncing scandals in the service of the development of society and the preservation of its rights . Hence the subject of this article, or we will try to identify the highest level of the profession of journalism and the most dangerous: it is investigative journalism or the profession of prospecting the truth, we will expose its roots and how it crystallized until it reached the present form as we know it, while addressing its forms and what distinguishes them from other forms of journalism
